JobKeeper - Changes and Corrections

JobKeeper Codes

Once a JobKeeper START/FINISH or TIER code is sent, it is retained by the ATO until it is replaced with a new valid code. If an employer sends the same code again, this is ignored by the ATO. Sending no code or N/A for example does not replace the code currently stored by the ATO as these are not valid codes.

Changes in Circumstances

After you use STP Creator to NOTIFY the ATO of a JOBKEEPER-START-FNxx and/or Tier code for an employee, that code remains in effect until:

Corrections Required

If you made a mistake in a previous report, you can correct it in a later report or an Update event. Examples include:

Examples

1. Employee was eligible then ceases to be eligible

2. Employee again becomes eligible

3. Employer ceases to be eligible

4. Employee was never eligible - correcting

5. Accidentally sent a FINISH code - employee is still eligible - correcting

6. Accidentally sent JK-TIER2 instead of JK-TIER1

Procedure

The procedure outlined below is for STP Creator v1.0.5.8 (or higher)

Note: - always check the JOBKEEPER codes under Other Allowances on the Final Screen to ensure they are correct before sending.

1. Employee was eligible then ceases to be eligible

An employee was eligible from FN01 and you previously sent a JOBKEEPER-START-FN01 code. The employee ceases to be eligible from FN16. On the employee's Payee Details screen, set as follows:

2. Employee again becomes eligible

If the employee who ceased to be eligible from FN06, again becomes eligible from FN18, on the employee's Payee Details screen, set as follows:

3. Employer ceases to be eligible

If due to a change in circumstances the employer (and therefore all employees) becomes ineligible for JobKeeper from FN05.

You do not need to send FINISH codes, simply do not complete the Monthly Declaration on the Business Portal.

4. Employee was never eligible - correcting

An employee was never eligible however you inadvertently or accidentally sent a JOBKEEPER-START-FN01 code in a previous report. To cancel a START code, send a FINISH code for the same FNxx. In this case send JOBKEEPER-FINISH-FN01 for this employee. To do this, on the employee's Payee Details screen, set as follows:

5. Accidentally sent a FINISH code - employee is still eligible - correcting

You sent a FINISH code by mistake for example JOBKEEPER-FINISH-FN03, the employee continues to be eligible. To cancel a FINISH code, send a START code for the same FNxx. In this case send JOBKEEPER-START-FN03 for this employee. To do this, on the employee's Payee Details screen, set as follows:

6. Accidentally sent JK-TIER2 instead of JK-TIER1

You sent a JK-TIER2 code however this should have been JK-TIER1. To correct this simply send JK-TIER1 for this employee. To do this, on the employee's Payee Details screen, set as follows:
