Leaving STP Creator

If you plan to stop using STP Creator after you have lodged an STP Report, remember to send a Final Indicator with your last STP Report (or an an Update Event). This will ensure the Income Statements are 'Tax Ready' for your employees.

Avoiding Duplication

If you change from one STP system to another, there are some procedures you may need to follow to avoid duplication. The ATO will treat data sent via STP Creator as different to data sent through another STP product. Say for example you report your Payroll Data for the period 1 July 2019 to 31 Dec 2019 using STP Creator. You then move to another Payroll/STP software AND migrate your payroll data. When you lodge your first STP report in the new software for the month of Jan 2020, this may well include the YTD amounts reported for the period 1 July 2019 to 31 Dec 2019 in STP Creator, resulting in duplication.

MyGov users will likely see one Income Statement based on data sent via STP Creator for earnings during 1July 2019 and 31 Dec 2019. If all payroll historical data was migrated to the new software, it is likely the users will see another Income Statement based on data sent via the other STP software for the period 1 July 2019 to end of STP report.

The ATO first detected this duplication issue in late 2019 and advised STP developers to introduce a feature which allowed users to 'reset' all data previously submitted by their original STP software when they migrate to new STP software.

If migrating YTD payroll data to the new software, to avoid duplication you should clear all Payroll Data sent via STP Creator and then send this as your final STP Report using STP Creator (remember to include a Final Indicator). See Set all to Zero & False
