Keystore and M2M Credentials

Before you can send data directly to the ATO via SBR, you will need to install the ATO's Machine 2 Machine (M2M) Credentials on your computer. These credentials can be installed on multiple computers.

How to tell if I can install M2M Credentials

Installing M2M Credentials will save a Keystore to your computer or add the required credentials to an existing Keystore on this computer. Be sure to make a note of the location when the Keystore is saved as well as the password you set - you will need these when completing the SBR Settings screen.

On the SBR Settings screen you will need to show STP Creator where to find the Keystore and which Credentials STP Creator should use.

The Credentials required depend on who will be the Sender of the Report, in other words, which ABN will be submitting the data.

Payer

If you are the Payer and the Sender, the Keystore must have credentials for your ABN

BAS Agent

If you are a BAS Agent and sending on behalf of a Payer, the Keystore must have credentials for your ABN. You will also need to provide your Agent Number. The ATO will use this to confirm you are authorised to act for this Payer.

Tax Agent

If you are a Tax Agent and sending on behalf of a Payer, the Keystore must have credentials for your ABN. You will also need to provide your Agent Number. The ATO will use this to confirm you are authorised to act for this Payer.

Intermediary

If you are an authorised intermediary sending on behalf of a Payer (as set up in Access Manager), the Keystore must have credentials for your ABN. The ATO will use this to confirm you are authorised to act for this Payer.

NOTE:

If you are unable to install M2M Credentials, the alternative is to lodge your STP Reports via SSP
